How to prepare a voice-over script

Writing for listening, pronunciation, pacing, voice samples and synchronisation for human and AI narration.

Write for listening

Split long sentences, expand abbreviations and turn noun-heavy phrases into concrete actions. Write numbers, dates and addresses as they should be spoken. Read aloud: if you need to restart a sentence, listeners may struggle too.

Add pronunciation and pauses

Mark pronunciation for names, brands and technical terms. Describe delivery by purpose: calmly explaining, inviting or stressing a warning. For synchronisation, provide timecodes or an edit with space for speech.

Review a short sample

Start with a sample containing the brand name, numbers and a difficult sentence. Assess naturalness, clarity and pace. AI voices vary by language and emotion; a pilot reveals limits before full production.

Approve script and formats

Check facts and required wording before recording. Later wording changes can require rerecording or synthesis and editing. Agree sample rate, format, platform loudness requirements, music versions and clean speech. Voice cloning permission is separate.
